Breaking news: Bermuda lose by six wickets

West Indies eased past Bermuda today by six wickets and 20 overs today to send the national cricket team home early from the Toronto Tri Series.

Acting captain Ramnerash Sarwan lofted a six to end the match in Toronto as he top scored with 49 runs to lead West Indies to 159.

Bermuda enjoyed an early breakthrough as Steede and Kelly claimed opening batsmen Xavier Marshall and Sewnarine Chattergoon's wickets early and had the Test nation on 31-2. But Sarwan, coming in when the fast scoring West Indies were on 90-4 after just 15 overs, steadied the innings along with Brendan Nash to steer his team home.

Earlier, Bermuda scored 158-9 against the West Indies as Chris Douglas followed his half century against Canada with a courageous 53 against a strong West Indies bowling attack.

Douglas was the eighth man out and, with star spinner Dwayne Leverock, crafted a 25-run partnership after Bermuda had looked to be in trouble on 114 for 7 after 30 overs.

Leverock scored 20 as he helped Bermuda to bat out its full 50 overs.

There was scant run support otherwise, with captain Irving Romaine chipping in with 20 and Lionel Cann scoring 17 off 20 balls.
