Brown double as Limeys win
Onions Ladies 2
Limeys Ladies 3
A strong Onions team looked likely to rule the day when Melissa Field surprised everyone to bolt down the sideline on the first play of the game and open the scoring for the fired-up Onions.
But it was a false dawn as the next three scores were to come from the Limeys. In a match that saw some tight defending, Michelle Berendt was instrumental in setting up the three scores of the Limeys.
A moment of magic from Kate Brown saw the lithe centre weave her way through some stunned defenders to open the account. Shortly afterwards Julia Mansfield took advantage of a defensive mishap when Melissa Field and Sue Rebello became entangled and sprinted down the line to give Limeys their second try.
In the second half, midfield general Amy Harvey marshalled her troops and the Onions began to cycle through their allotted tackles, but errors crept in and proved costly as Berendt pounced on a loose ball and a deft pass released Brown for her second score to restore a two-try buffer for Limeys.
Onions did not give up and were rewarded when Harvey managed to scurry across the line to make it 3-2.
