Outstanding teenagers to be honoured

Some of the best and brightest of Bermuda's youth will be honoured at the Teen Services Outstanding Teen Awards at the City Hall Theatre on Sunday.

The 6 p.m. ceremony, under the honorary patronage of Elvin James, Minister of the Environment and Sport, will feature an address by Dr. Wendy Woods, a local gynaecologist and former Outstanding Academic teen.

From 93 nominations from schools, churches and youth organisations across the Island, outstanding teens have been chosen in the areas of Community Service, Sports, Visual Arts, Performing Arts, Spiritual Leadership, Academic Achievement and Leadership.

There are also awards given for Incentive and Most Progress. An Overall Outstanding Teen is also honoured. Each young person honoured received an education bursary in addition to his or her medal and certificate.

A reception will follow the awards ceremony, during which light refreshments will be served. Tickets, $25, are available from Teen Services on Happy Valley Road (accessed through the Fort Hamilton turn off). For further information contact Michelle Wade or Nina Jones 292-4598.
