Marsh helps PALS patients get into Cup Match spirit

Marsh and Guy Carpenter & Co. will be putting a smile on the faces of PALS patients with the presentation of 30 gift baskets to enjoy over Cup Match.

Employees from the two companies' Bermuda operations, which are both subsidiaries of Marsh & McLennan Companies Inc., worked together with their colleagues, who donated items to assemble and deliver the baskets.

Items including pet food and personal gifts, such as soaps and lotions were included in the baskets. Once assembled by insurance broker's staff, the baskets were decorated with St. George's and Somerset ribbons and delivered to the cancer charity.

"Cup Match is the quintessential Bermuda holiday and everyone on the Island should feel a part of it; we felt this was one way we could share the joy of the holiday with others," said Sarah Randall, human resources manager at Marsh. "Our colleagues are very generous and there has been a lot of enthusiasm around the gift baskets from all three organisations."

The baskets were purchased from Beacon House, where blind people make baskets, stools, hampers and other items to sell to the public. Ann Smith Gordon, president and CEO of PALS, said the baskets will mean a lot to their patients.

"Our patients may not be able to participate in the traditional Cup Match celebrations, so this will make it possible for them to feel part of the celebrations," she said.

"We are always grateful to the community for contributions to assist in the comfort and care of cancer patients in Bermuda and, on their behalf, I would like to extend my thanks to Marsh and Guy Carpenter for their kindness and generosity."
