National Dance Foundation to offer free master classes
The National Dance Foundation will again be offering free master classes this weekend for students and teachers, thanks to the sponsorship of PartnerRe.
Classes for dance students will take place from Friday, February 1 to Sunday, February 3 at the Bermuda High School for Girls' dance facilities under the direction of visiting master teachers Lorraine Graves and Amy Hall.
The duo will also conduct two teacher training seminars at the same venue. On February 2 the focus will be on theatre dance, while the February 3 seminar will focus on ballet. The classes are the second in a four-part weekend series of classes and workshops offered by the NDFB, and are open to all of Bermuda dance students and teachers.
Ms Graves, a member of 'Who's Who in America', 'Who's Who in Entertainment' and 'Who's Who Among Women', is a master dancer and teacher. Her many credits include principal dancer and ballet mistress at the Dance Theatre of Harlem (DTH).
She is also is on the organisation's permanent guest faculty, and is the resident teacher for the DTH/Kennedy Center pre-professional residency programme. Ms Graves twice performed with the DTH, and taught a previous NDFB master class here.
Ms Hall is an accomplished dancer with a strong professional background, whose credits include dancing in Broadway, film and television productions. Last year she toured with Chita Rivera in 'The Dancer's Life'.
Ms Hall was a member of the NDFB's 2007 faculty, and also choreographed the workshop's closing piece, 'Fusion', which received a standing ovation.
