A drunken man who fell into St George’s Harbour was rescued by a member of the public on New Year’s Day.

According to the Police, the intoxicated 61-year-old was sitting on a wall at Ordnance Island around 12.55 p.m when he fell nine feet into the water.

“He attempted to get out several times before a member of the public came to his assistance and pulled him from the water” said a Police spokesman.

The victim, who is from St George’s, required treatment in the Intensive Care Unit at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital where he was reported to be in a stable condition last night.
