Black cohosh worth a try for menopause symptoms
DEAR DR. GOTT: I am writing about the man who had problems with menopause symptoms after the removal of his testicles. I was thrown into menopause from shock and took hormones for 30 years and didn't like the side effects. I still have hot flashes and control them with black cohosh. I thought maybe he could find some relief with this herb, which American Indian women used way before white women had relief of any kind. The treatment was successful.
The one I use has 300 milligrams black cohosh root and 60 milligrams black cohosh root extract. It's very easy to buy at any drug store or health-food store.
I hope that this might be of some help to the man, because hot flashes aren't a death sentence. They are very annoying and probably embarrassing for a man, although I have known some men that I would have wished them on!
DEAR READER: Black cohosh has not been shown in testing to be a particularly successful remedy for menopause in women. I am not aware of its effects on men. However, as far I know, it is a harmless herbal remedy and, since it has helped you, I won't argue with success.
If you are a man having menopause symptoms, please give black cohosh a try and let me know whether it works for you.
DEAR DR. GOTT: When my son began to grow breasts, I did some research and found out he was probably lacking in the B vitamins. I gave him a B-complex vitamin supplement daily, and he went back to looking like a boy. I feel my solution was sane, as it relieved the child of embarrassment and possible future surgery.
DEAR READER: That's an interesting solution that is new to me. Thank you for writing.
