'Big' clothes get binned

David Paynter

There's no turning back for David Paynter, The Royal Gazette's 100 Day Challenge columnist, after he threw out all the clothes too big for him.

Cleaning out his closet drew surprise from friends and family, but David said he's now committed to being a smaller size so he's not worried about getting rid of them.

Plus he discovered pants and shirts he bought a year ago when he had dreamed of being a smaller size, that he can now fit into.

He said: "There's no turning back. I pitched jeans and shirts that were too big for me. It now looks more organised.

"But I'm still trying to set the next goal. I already reached the first one at 30 pounds. The weight loss will slow down, so I want to lose another 10 pounds.

"It won't be at the same rate as before."

That's OK for David, though, as compliments flowed in this week after the updated photos in this paper last week. Many said he was a shadow of his former self.

One person actually asked how he sucked-in his stomach for the photo.

But David says the way he can tell he has changed is the choice of activities. No longer trying to pry himself from a computer, now David is picky about the sport he does.

Though he tried baseball last week, it's basketball that has enough cardio to keep him sweating and feel like he's getting his exercise.

David said: "Baseball's not as active. You're just catching and throwing. With basketball you feel like you're getting this great work out.

"I'm definitely getting less computer time in now."
