CrimeStoppers phone tips have led to 179 arrests
Crime Stoppers, Bermuda has received more than 3,300 calls and helped remove more than $1.4 worth of goods since its inception.
The organisation was started in Bermuda in 1995 and has since been instrumental in helping bring criminals to justice.
Though it supports the work of the Police, chairwoman Joanne MacPhee said she wanted to stress that it is its own separate entity.
While providing Police with information from calls received, the person answering the phone in Miami, Florida has no idea who they are speaking to and do not have any record of the call.
The commitment to anonymity has helped CrimeStoppers Bermuda receive 3,305 tips, which have helped arrest 179 people.
From these tips, Police have also been able to clear 208 cases recover $1,400,323 worth of property, $19,490,636 of drugs and has paid out $37,255 in rewards.
All of this work has been made possible through the CrimeStoppers hotline, which has been accessible for Bermudians since 1995.
Anyone with information about a crime is encouraged to call the toll-free number at: 1-800-623-8477.
