One up, two down on final day

One stock rose and two fell on the final trading day of the year for the Royal Gazette / Bermuda Stock Exchange on Monday. The Index lost 4.63 points (0.09 percent) to close out 2007 at 4,909.92.

Butterfield Bank shares gained 10 cents (0.6 percent) to finish at $18.25 after 36,565 were traded.

It was a downward end to the year for BF&M stock which lost $1 (4.8 percent) to end the year at $20 after 240 shares changed hands.

Belco shares also lost ground, falling 40 cents (1.9 percent) to $21 after 2,200 were traded.

The total volume of shares traded was 39,005, representing a value of $717,313.25.
