Plans for a regional, high-security prison were discussed today during a meeting of the Overseas Territories Consultative Council (OTCC).

Premier Ewart Brown told a press conference this afternoon that the matter had arisen during today’s OTCC meeting.

“We’re all concerned about law and order and security,” he said.

“There was some talk of a regional high security prison. It’s an issue we may take to the UK Government.”

The idea, he said, was still only in its very early stages.

If the plan does come into fruition, Dr. Brown said that the facility might also be shared by independent countries in the region.
