Breaking News - Tucker slapped with ban

Top cricket all rounder Janeiro Tucker has been slapped with a six-match suspension by Bermuda Cricket Board (BCB).

The 32-year-old Southampton Rangers player/coach was last week found guilty of bringing the game into disrepute.

Tucker, who captained Bermuda to World Cup qualification in the absence of injured skipper Clay Smith in Ireland in 2005, was alleged to have sworn at umpire Hector Watson during a Premier Division match involving his club and Cleveland County at Southampton Oval last September.

It was the second time this year the former Somerset Cup Match skipper has appeared before the Board’s disciplinary committee. In June Tucker served a three-match ban after being written up for unsportsmanlike conduct by umpire Anthony Fubler.

Southampton Rangers chairman Randy Raynor said his club now intend to appeal against the Board’s ruling that could rule Tucker out of Bermuda’s Standford 20/20 assignment in Antigua next February.

The club has until Thursday to submit an appeal.
