England 286-8 (after 50 overs)

Bermuda were faced with a challenging victory target after restricting a star-studded England side to 286 for eight in their allotted 50 overs in this historic first official international between the two sides at the Arnos Vale ground today.

But they'll likely be more than satisfied with their morning performance in the field in which spinners Dwayne Leverock and young Delyone Borden picked up five wickets between them.

The big man, Leverock, was particularly impressive, sending down 10 overs at a cost of just 32 runs, snapping up the crucial wickets of Kevin Pietersen (43) and Paul Collingwood (7) along the way.

Borden proved more expensive, going for 71 off his ten overs but collecting the last three England wickets to fall.

Top scorer for England James Dalrymple (76) was one of those victims, caught by OJ Pitcher on the mid-wicket boundary going for one big hit too many, and earlier Andrew Flintoff went in exactly the same fashion for 24.

Wicketkeeper Paul Nixon was the last wicket to fall, caught by Kevin Hurdle in the deep off Borden for 17.

Earlier Hurdle himself had impressed, bowling unchanged for 10 overs to return two for 58, dismissing both openers.

Ed Joyce was clean bowled for seven with a terrific delivery that shattered off stump and skipper Michael Vaughan brilliantly caught at square leg by David Hemp for 18.

The other wicket to fall was that of Ian Bell for 46, the victim of another superb catch, this time by captain Irving Romaine off young Malachi Jones.
