Bermuda v England update

from Arnos Vale, St. Vincent

England 59-2 (after 10 overs)

Bermuda were acquitting themselves well in the early stages of this historic international, pace bowler Kevin Hurdle snapping up the wickets of both openers, Ed Joyce and skipper Michael Vaughan, in a fiery opening spell.

While the England bats barrelled along at six runs an over, they saw Joyce dismissed in the third over for seven with the total on 14, Hurdle sending down a near yorker which smashed into off stump.

And just when Vaughan seemed to be finding his form, having hit Saleem Mukuddem for successive fours, he too perished, dismissed for 18 by a superb catch at square leg by David Hemp as he attempted to pull Hurdle.

That left England on 41 for two after 6.3 overs, but with Ian Bell and the big hitting Kevin Pietersen, who thumped Hurdle for two fours in his fourth over, upping the tempo, the 50 was brought up in the ninth over and after 10 overs, England had moved on to 59.
