Cellular seal place in final

Cellular One continued their Cinderella run in the Bermuda Basketball Association play-offs as they rallied from a 10-point deficit late in the game to finally dump opponents Cane Toads 73-67 in the second semi-final.

They now meet favourites Mr. Chicken Gamecocks in tonight's final at Bermuda High School Gymnasium, starting at 7 p.m.

Led by Derek Lindo's three three-point field goals, Cellular One hit back to tie the semi-final 55-55 and force an extra period which they then dominated.

They outscored Toads 18-12, fouling out leading scorers Alvin Bell and then Charles Peters.

Peters had contributed 22 points and Bell 21.

Mike Smith was once again Cellular's top scorer with 23, his side now having won six in a row.

However, with a 10-1 win-loss record, Gamecocks are expected to have the edge in tonight's final, although the Tsunamis (7-5) handed them their only loss this season, 78-77.

Gamecocks, only in their third season, have made the championship game for a third consecutive year, and having lost in the last two will be desperate to make it third time lucky.

However, three former Gamecocks ? Derrick Ali, Marlon Paul and Corey Vance ? will feature in the Cellular One line-up.
