Hood looking to rob Boulevard of victory

Boulevard, shown celebrating their victory in the Shield last year, are on the hunt for more silverware in the FA Cup.

Robin Hood face the might of Premier Division Boulevard in the first round of the FA Cup tomorrow, with the Commercial League side intent on packing their defence in an attempt to frustrate their more skilful opponents.

?At the end of the day we are a Commercial team and we are obviously not as prepared as they are,? conceded Hood?s captain Derek Scott, who will be returning to face the club with which he was involved for a number of years in a coaching capacity.

?Boulevard seem to have been playing quite well this season also. But we are going to work very hard in defence and if we can draw them more and more up the pitch, we may well get chances to catch them on the break.?

Despite possessing a number of players who are past their prime, so to speak, Scott pointed out that it was important not to underestimate the value of experience in cup competitions.

?We have a number of players, including among others the likes of Colin McQueen and Gary Ray who have played to a decent standard in their day and are no strangers to the FA Cup. They have been there before and although they are not as young as they once were, I am confident of their ability to cope on the day,? he said.

Meanwhile, Premier Division leaders Dandy Town have been granted a place in the second round without having to kick a ball after Prison Officers withdrew from the competition yesterday evening, claiming that a combination of injuries and work commitments had prevented them from raising a side.

Dandy Town coach Devar Boyles expressed disappointment with the last minute cancellation, relating how all his players were desperate for games in what has been a frustratingly ?stop-start? season so far.

?We would have been keen on playing the fixture this weekend principally with the view of trying to build some type of momentum,? he said.

?We?ve have not played that much this season, which has been the same for everybody, but we are probably suffering a little bit more than most with our game getting postponed last week. In the reserve division, we have not played a game for over a month. So we are starving for matches and are disappointed that once again we cannot play.?

Boyles also hinted that one or two of his ?squad? players would have made the starting 11 this weekend, which would have provided a opportunity to ?tactically experiment?.
