Thoughts with their coach
North Village players, officials and fans sent out their thoughts and prayers last night to coach Scott Morton who was involved in a serious road accident late on Monday evening.
Village thrashed Somerset Eagles 5-0 last night at the National Sports Centre to book a date in the November 11 Martonmere Cup final.
"We were just trying to get ourselves together after what had happened to Scott (Morton)," said assistant coach Allen Smith following last night's convincing win. "A few of the guys were down and were thinking about Scott and so we definitely had to be more focused and gradually get ourselves into the game. But we were definitely upset to hear the news of Scott yesterday. This win tonight was definitely for the coach and the team."
Smith will now lead the team along with former player Wendell (Joe) Trott in Morton's absence.
He added: "We knew our task was going to be difficult but even though Scott wasn't there tonight nothing else really changed.
"Things must continue and we must keep focused on getting the team to work together as a unit."
Morton, meanwhile, was listed as stable yesterday after suffering head injuries during the accident which also involved a 25-year-old Devonshire man and took place at the junction of St.John's Road and Cox's Hill in Pembroke.
