Bromby earns top six finish at Worlds

Bermudian sailor Peter Bromby finished sixth overall in the 2002 Star Class World Championships on Friday.

Competing in the six-race event, with Martin Siese as crew, Bromby crossed the line ninth in the final race to earn the Island a top ten spot.

He enjoyed a first, second and fifth-place finish in earlier races and opted to discard the 33rd-place finish which he earned in the very first race.

Iain Percy and Steven Mitchell of the UK won the sailing championships, with the Brazilian pair of Torben Grael and Marcelo Ferreira, claiming the runner-up position.

The World Championships were held in California.
