Howard Simmons walked away with the Archie Brown Shield following a thrilling duel in the Great Sound against Cal Lynch and Gladwin Lambert in comet sailing action over the weekend.
Racing a lengthy windward-leeward course from West End Sailing Club to Five Star Island and back, under 10-12 knot breezes, Simmons was first to Five Star and then did just enough to hold off his challengers on the way back to the club.
It was the first victory in some time for the veteran Simmons, who had Calvin Simmons as his crew for the day.
Second was Lynch, with Rudy Bailey aboard, followed by Lambert and crew Ellsworth Lovell, while Antoine Wingood, partnered by Charlie Horse, finished fourth.
