Sharpe sets swim record

Two of Bermuda?s best young swimmers have been continuing their preparations for next month?s FINA Youth World Championships in Brazil by competing in prestigious meets overseas.

At the Canadian Age Group National Championships in Calgary yesterday, Rebecca Sharpe set a new Bermuda age group record in the 14-year-old division of the 50 metres backstroke, finishing seventh overall in 32.63 seconds.

And fellow Sharks Swimming Club member Nick Thompson, 14, reached the final of the 50 metres freestyle.

The meet, which has attracted most of the best junior swimmers in Canada, continues until Sunday.
