Fifteen-year-old cousins Jad? Foggo and Orond? Bascome played significant roles as St. George's reached their ninth Belco Cup final with a five-wicket win at Lord's.

Foggo, a left-arm spinner, had his first five-wicket haul in senior cricket as Stars were restricted to 177 in 47.5 overs.

Foggo claimed the key wickets of Arnold Manders (14) and captain Albert Steede (51) in his first two overs as Stars slumped to 116-7. The youngster finished with figures of five for 34 off 9.5 overs, claiming his fifth scalp on the second last ball of his spell when Bascome held a skied chance off Maurice Lowe at long-on to end the innings.

Foggo was one of four spinners in the St. George's team and one of five left-arm bowlers used by the east enders who were without their main striker bowler, Herbie Bascome, who was off the Island.

Travis Smith had excellent figures of two for 19 from 10 overs while Wilbur Burt claimed two for 17 from seven.

Eugene Foggo (37) and young Bascome (45) laid the foundation for the St. George's run chase with an opening stand of 106 in 36 overs and 129 minutes. The breakthrough led to a collapse as four more wickets went down for 14 runs in just six overs, by which time the required run rate had crept up to seven an over.

However, Gregg Foggo and Troy Hall made sure that victory was achieved, as they added 68 for the sixth wicket in just six overs. Foggo brought the run rate back down to five by taking 18 off Justin Robinson in the 44th over.

Foggo finished with 31 not out off two fours and two sixes while Hall scored 25 not out including two fours and a six. Robinson was the pick of the Stars bowlers, claiming three for 34 off eight overs while Arnold Manders had two for 19 from 10.
