Road race fund-raiser
The annual Athletic Club 5K road race, a fund-raiser for the St John Ambulance Brigade, will be held this Sunday, starting at 9.00 a.m. from Victoria Park in Hamilton.
In last year's race, 25-year-old Sheldon Thompson romped home to win in 16 minutes 21 seconds with Anna Eatherley dominating the women's division, finishing ninth overall in 18:21.
Organised by Mid Atlantic Athletic Club, the race takes runners and walkers from Victoria Park out to St John's Road, Berkeley Road to North Shore and Admiralty House Park, returning to the Victoria Park finish via Cox's Hill, Pitt's Bay Road and Serpentine Road, past Belco and through the roundabout by The Royal Gazette.
The first 140 finishers this year will receive T-shirts and all runners will be eligible for numerous draw prizes.
The Grand Draw prizes are two return air ticket to the US or the Caribbean from Continental Airlines and a TV from M&M International.
Entry fees are $15 for seniors and $10 for juniors with late entries accepted at an increased fee on race day.
Entry forms are available at The Athletic Club, Pro Shop, Sportseller and Sports R Us with the deadline for entries on Friday at 4:45 p.m.
