St. David's open the defence of their Premier Division KO Cup crown at Lord's today against vocal tenants St.George's.

The last time these two teams met at the same venue, St. George's eked out a one-run win in a match which spilled over into controversy when spinner Travis Smith unwittingly began to bowl an 11th over.

After the dust had settled, and the public wrangling subsided, the result was allowed to stand.

However, the Islanders will attempt to set the record straight this time around as they look to hang onto the trophy they won against Western Stars last season at Sea Breeze Oval. And as such, St. George's can brace themselves for another tough battle.

Apart from skipper Charlie Marshall, St.George's' squad should remain the same as they attempt to get things back on track following their own one-run defeat at the hands of PHC last weekend.

But unlike their opponents, St. David's' may be missing two of their key players - player/coach Clay Smith and fiery all-rounder Lionel Cann.

Smith is still awaiting the BCB's final disciplinary ruling after allegedly bringing the game into disrepute, namely speaking to the press, while Cann was reportedly injured in a cycle crash earlier this week.

Elsewhere today, last year's beaten finalists Stars take on a badly bruised Somerset at St.John's Field. Stars crushed Somerset on their home turf last weekend by ten wickets.

The west enders will have to keep a watchful eye on Jermaine Postlethwaite, who grabbed three wickets and cracked an unbeaten 83 against them only six days ago.

Willow Cuts, meanwhile, take on Cleveland at Somerset Cricket Club with veteran Dexter Basden given the green light by the Board's disciplinary committee to continue playing.

PHC, meanwhile, return to White Hill Field where they recorded their memorable win over St.George's last weekend. PHC play host to visiting Southampton Rangers and any slim hopes they have of upstaging their more illustrious opponents may hinge on how they cope with Southampton skipper Janeiro Tucker's bat.

Tucker returned to top form last Sunday by belting an unbeaten 154 against Cleveland off only 93 balls. The dreadlocked dynamo was an obvious choice for this week's BTC Player of the Week award.

In First Division KO Cup action, Bailey's Bay take on Social Club at Sea Breeze Oval, Warwick are entertain LegTrappers at Southampton Oval while Police meet Flatts at Police Field. Devonshire take on Somerset Bridge at Devonshire Recreation Club.

Looking ahead to tomorrow's Premier Division schedule, St.George's will again feature in the day's top match against Stars at Lord's while Cleveland will look to bounce back from last Sunday's loss to Southampton against St.David's at St.John's Field.

Somerset take on PHC at Somerset Cricket Club while league leaders Southampton host struggling Willow Cuts at Southampton Oval.

In First Division play, frontrunners Flatts tackle Police at Police Field, Social Club meet Warwick at Devonshire Rec while Bailey's Bay play LegTrappers in what promises to be an interesting match-up at Sea Breeze Oval. Somerset Bridge, meanwhile, take on Devonshire for the second time in 24 hours at White Hill Field.
