Thank-you ladies

Women?s football may take a back seat to the men?s game in Bermuda but last Saturday night two ladies were up front at the Bermuda Football Association?s Prize Presentation.

Dandy Stars veteran Damina Caisey and Chantal Hadall of Bisys Royals were saluted with the coveted Women in Football awards in the annual ceremony at Ocean View Golf Club.

Caisey, who was absent for her moment of glory, was hailed for her multi-faceted ability on the field, initially as ?an inspirational attacker who was quite a handful? before switching to the defensive end of the game. She was the Female MVP two years ago and the Best Female Defender last year and played on Bermuda?s first women?s team to compete in an international overseas fixture in 1991.

Hadall, who relocated to the Island from Canada, joined Royals in 1999 and has demonstrated leadership both on and off the field.

Even when injured this resilient defender still turns up to support her team-mates from the sidelines and they credit her for organising training session and fund-raisers, ordering uniforms and equipment and for handling team communication.

She is committed and reliable and the first one to volunteer for thankless tasks such as washing dirty uniforms.

BFA General Secretary David Sabir said both women have ?contributed greatly and tirelessly for many years? to the sport and its development among the fairer sex in Bermuda.
