Moser, who lost in his final qualifying round game but claimed a main draw place after the withdrawal of an injured Vince Spadea, booked his spot in the quarter-finals with a 6-3, 7-6 (4) win over the Austrian.

The German then joined with Mashishka Washington, brother of MaliVai, to beat Juan Martin Del Potro of Argentina and Costa Rican Juan Antonio Marin 6-3, 6-3 to reach the final eight of the doubles.

Spaniard Oscar Hernandez booked his quarter-final clash with the winner of Mardy Fish and Mark Philippoussis with a 6-4, 6-4 victory over American qualifier Nikita Kryvonos in the other singles game yesterday.

In the doubles, American team Zack Fleishman and Mirko Pehar got rid of Goran Dragicevic and Nathan Healey 6-3, 1-6, 10-6 while third seeds Israeli Harel Levy and Oliver Marach had little trouble with US pair Eric Butorac and Tripp Phillips, winning 6-4, 6-3.

In other games, wildcard pair Alex Kuznetsov and Jeff Morrison beat singles draw third and second seeds Marcos Daniel and Gilles Muller 6-2, 6-1 and Antony Dupuis of France paired up with Vasilis Mazarakis of Greece to make the most of their lucky loser status and knock out Matej Bocko and Nikita Kryvonos 6-4, 6-2.
