Sports Centre work is placed on hold

The go-ahead to extend work on the National Sports Centre (NSC) remains on hold pending a response from the Ministry of Finance to the NSC's Board of Trustees.

"We are waiting for some reaction from the Ministry of Finance and then we'll find out where we are. It's in their hands.

"We have provided them with information and we're waiting for them to come back to us," said board chairman Donald Lines.

"At present, the only work being done at the Frog Lane complex is the completion of the western stands and the installation of the sandpit for the long jump and triple jump. These were all part of the original NSC plan. However, a decision is to be made as to whether additional facilities will be built.

"I've spoken with them up to (Wednesday) and I know what they are thinking but they haven't come back to us (the trustees) officially," added Lines, saying he hoped to have some word from the Ministry on the project "in the next few days".
