Sims struggles

Michael Sims? chances of making the cut in his third Canadian Tour event appeared doomed last night as he laboured in vain to make up lost ground at the Northern California Classic in Stockton.

At Press time the Bermuda Open champion was one under in his second round after 15 holes ? leaving him at two over for the tournament and some six shots off the projected cut.

A total of 106 out of a field of 144 players were under par at Press time ? with Sims languishing in 121st place.

Leaving aside a miracle, this will have been the third cut in a row that the Bermudian has missed on tour ? despite suggesting while at home last week that the kinks in his swing had been ironed out.

The next Canadian Tour event does not begin until April 17 ? the $100,000 Diablo Grande California Classic.
