Morton's far from happy despite win

Despite watching his team book their passage into next month's FA Cup final North Village coach Scott Morton was far from happy, stating it was not just about winning but how you win, writes Colin Thompson.

Village won 3-1 but Morton said: "Its going to take a lot more work then what we did today, there was a lot of poor decision making on the part of my senior players and I'm totally disappointed in them!

"Senior players had opportunities to make better choices so we weren't in the predicament of being just one goal ahead.

"It feels good to be in the next two finals (FA and Friendship Trophy). But for me as a coach, winning is not my main priority ... it's how we win and I cannot be pleased with what I saw today. For some periods it was OK, but for the most part it was unacceptable."

Morton was quick to acknowledge Somerset's determination.

"Our hats go off to Somerset Eagles. They played an excellent game today, it was very competitive ... I expected that," he said. "I'm glad my players got to feel what's it was like to play against a considerably or supposedly lower opposition. On the day anything is possible and I think that they did a good job and were unfortunate not to have come out with a few more goals themselves."

Somerset coach Albert Dowling also praised his side.

"I would like to command my team for the display that they put forward this afternoon," said Dowling. "I think that it all came down to fitness levels which ultimately made the difference, especially in the latter stages of the match were injuries and cramping plagued us."
