Goater looks for No.30

Shaun Goater goes gunning for his 30th goal of the season tomorrow when Manchester City take on Coventry in a key First Division clash, writes Matt Westcott.

Before today's games, City were second in the table five points behind the leaders Wolves.

The Bermudian struck his 29th goal in the 4-0 rout of Sheffield Wednesday on Wednesday and needs just six more for his City ton.

City are likely to be unchanged as Paulo Wanchope is once again sidelined and may not be available until the trip to Bradford.

Wanchope's knee injury is set to rule him out of the club's next two games, against the Sky Blues and at Birmingham next Tuesday night and that means the weight of expectation is on Goater's shoulders.

"Paulo unfortunately will not be available for Sunday. It looks more like next Friday night at Bradford when he will return. We are disappointed at the injury but I believe we are on top of it and by the time he does play he will be strong enough to play every two days," explained manager Kevin Keegan.

"It is not a bad situation, but at the same time it is not ideal. You have to remember that we have to protect the player. If we threw him in on Sunday with no training it would be ridiculous, he needs a week's training."

Coventry are currently in sixth spot and the boss expects them to make the play-offs at the end of the season. However, he wants to avenge the 4-3 defeat at Highfield Road in September.

Kyle Lightbourne, meanwhile, is likely to have to make do with another substitute berth when Third Division Macclesfield Town take on high-flying Plymouth today.

The striker has been transfer-listed by manager Dave Moss and although he came on in the midweek defeat against Oxford he is unlikely to be promoted to the starting line-up.
