Sims fails to make cut

Bermuda's Michael Sims failed to make the cut when he added a disastrous round of six-over-par 77 yesterday to an opening round of one-over 72 in the Guatemala Open - the second event of the season on the Tour De Las Americas.

Playing at Hacienda Nueva Country Club, the Bermudian pro started the day in a 12-way tie for 48th and would have been looking to progress up the leaderboard in yesterday's second round.

Instead he slumped to a total of 149 (seven-over-par) to finish the day tied for 99th in the field of 145.

Leading the tournament at the half-way mark is Ireland's Damien McGrane who shot a superb 10-under-par 61 yesterday to add to a first round of 69. He's at 12-under-par 130.

Sims, who turned 24 in late January, was competing in the tournament as part of his playing privileges for this year's South American Tour.
