Football chiefs ask Kyle for his comments
Kyle Lightbourne has been given the opportunity to tell his side of the story over an incident that took place at the end of Macclesfield's clash with Exeter.
The Bermudian striker was involved in an altercation with a fan as the players were leaving the pitch following the 1-1 draw on January 25.
Macclesfield, struggling in the lower reaches of the English Third Division, conceded a last minute equaliser to the lowly Grecians in injury time and feelings were running high, both on the pitch and in the stands.
Match referee Mike Pike included the incident in the game report and sent it to Football Association headquarters in London.
Last week the FA confirmed they had received the comments and were in the process of asking both Macclesfield and Exeter for their observations.
Yesterday, it was Lightbourne's turn.
“I can confirm that The FA has written to Kyle Lightbourne for his observations in connection with the alleged confrontation with a fan at the match against Exeter City,” a spokesman told The Royal Gazette from London yesterday. “We will wait for his response before deciding on what further action needs to be taken.”
Lightbourne was placed on the transfer list towards the end of last season by manager David Moss but his performances have since impressed the boss and he has now been taken off.
He is said to be one of the most consistent performers at the club and played well in last Sunday's game with York, although Macclesfield came away empty-handed, going down 2-1.
