Dwayne Pearman has smashed the course record on his home course at Ocean View.

The veteran pro, Bermuda's most successful tournament player over the past decade, fired a sizzling 62 during the club's weekly skins game on Thursday.

In a bogey-free round, Pearman collected birdies at one, four, six, eight, 14 and 12 plus an eagle at the 10th.

"I got lucky," said a modest Pearman yesterday. "But it's not my lowest round. I once shot a 60 in Canada."

The previous Ocean View record of 64 was held by Frankie Rabain, head professional at Port Royal.

Like Bermudian Michael Sims, who turned professional this month, Pearman hopes to compete at Canadian PGA qualifying school in February, following a trip next week to the annual PGA Show in Florida.
