The 2002 basketball season gets underway this week with the Bermuda Basketball Association's first ever Pre-Season Invitational Tournament.

The tournament features 16 teams, representing both the Premier and the Adult Recreation divisions.

It begins with a double-header tonight at the Bermuda College and culminates with the semi-finals on Friday, January 25 and the finals on Saturday, January 26 at 7.00 p.m., also to be played at the Bermuda College.

The final will feature a half-time opportunity for a spectator to attempt a three-point shot for a $150 gift certificate.

The invitational tournament is part of several changes being implemented this year including an elongated season, trophies to the regular season champions and a revamped play-off schedule.

The winter season also includes the BBA's School Tournament during which the Island's young players will have an opportunity to showcase their skills.
