Woman officer to be disciplined in drugs probe

A female Police officer has come under investigation as the Force probes allegations of corruption in the narcotics department.

One Police source has told The Royal Gazette the officer is set to undergo an internal disciplinary hearing rather than face prosecution.

Late last month a male officer was arrested on drugs charges but has yet to appear in court.

Police launched an investigation in August last year after a member of the public pointed the finger at a number of Police officers.

Police spokesman Dwayne Caines said he could not speak about individual cases as the probe was still ongoing.

He said: “Whatever information comes from that will be made public but I can't speak to the level of punishment.

“An active investigation has been going on for some time and Police are working vigorously to bring the case to a close.”
