May 24 organisers hope for break in the weather

Ten-year-old visitor Justin Grabowski took a little extra rain protection with him on Wednesday when he went into the stocks in St. George's after the Island was hit by heavy rain. Weather forecasters are predicting the low pressure area bringing the bad weather will clear by tomorrow's public holiday.

Weather forecasters are predicting that this week's bad weather will clear in time for the May 24 Marathon Derby and the Bermuda day Parade.

Bermuda Weather Service forecasters said: "An area of low pressure will track very close to our west then northeast. The associated bands of unsettled weather and cold front will finally clear the area early Friday morning and high pressure will bring improved conditions into the weekend."

The forecasters said clouds and scattered showers will clear after dawn with a chance of showers for the race.
