Bird grounds AA flight

Yesterday morning's American Airlines flight from New York was delayed by more than two hours with sources saying that a bird had flown into the engine.

Local AA manager Carole DeCouto said the plane had not taken off but had left its departure gate, only to return for mechanical checks. Airport Operations in Bermuda said flight 686, which was due in at 11.40 a.m., eventually came in at 2.05 p.m.

Esso antes up

Esso is to donate five cents for every gallon of fuel bought at its stations to an anti-drug and drink campaign. The month-long campaign will begin tomorrow. Money will go towards Pride Bermuda who educate youth about the dangers of drugs.
