Murder charges expected soon

Police anticipate charges will be laid in the murder of Frederick John Goring shortly, spokesman Dwayne Caines said yesterday.

Three Pembroke men aged 19, 19 and 22 remained in Police custody last night for questioning, although five men were originally arrested in connection with the killing.

Police launched a murder investigation late Thursday after Mr. Goring succumbed to his wounds from the brutal assault after spending two and a half days in intensive care.

Yesterday, Police continued to appeal for witnesses to come forward.

The deceased, originally of Dominica, was found at around 7 p.m. on Monday on the corner of Glebe Road and Orchard Grove by residents, who, at first, believed he had been the victim of a road accident.

However, after he was taken to hospital for emergency treatment, doctors later contacted Police informing them that Mr. Goring's injuries had not been as a result of a vehicle, but a physical assault, instead.

Mr. Goring had been living in Bermuda since the age of four, Mr. Caines said yesterday.

"We also want to take this opportunity to thank the public for helping is thus far and we are still appealing for anyone that might have seen anything suspicious during the hours of 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Monday the 11th of November, or may have any information that could assist the Police investigation, to contact Chief Inspector Stuart Crockwell at 299-4326 or call the confidential Crimestoppers Hotline at 1-800-623-8477.
