Police make 16 Halloween arrests

Police made 16 arrests during Halloween night.They dealt with more than a dozen incidents of eggs and other missiles being thrown. In one, a rock smashed a bus window.Among the calls was a report of a disturbance at Hamilton Parish Workman's Club, Crawl Hill, which came in at 10 p.m. Officers stopped a car believed to have been involved in the disturbance at the junction of Sleepy Hollow Drive and North Shore Road in Hamilton Parish.

They dealt with more than a dozen incidents of eggs and other missiles being thrown. In one, a rock smashed a bus window.

Among the calls was a report of a disturbance at Hamilton Parish Workman's Club, Crawl Hill, which came in at 10 p.m. Officers stopped a car believed to have been involved in the disturbance at the junction of Sleepy Hollow Drive and North Shore Road in Hamilton Parish.

The occupants, a 40-year-old St George's man, a 41-year-old Devonshire woman and a 14-year-old Devonshire boy were arrested and taken to Hamilton Police Station after a search of the vehicle revealed what Police have described as a pointed or bladed weapon.

Earlier, at 5.25 p.m., Police had attended a report of missiles being thrown at a PTB bus on Palmetto Road in Devonshire near the junction with Long Ridge Pass.

The bus driver told officers that she was travelling east on Palmetto Road when a rock shattered one of the vehicle's windows. One of the passengers, a 62-year-old Pembroke woman, received scratches from the broken glass.

The arrest figures for the night were: seven for possession of a pointed or bladed weapon, four for drugs matters, three for outstanding warrants, one for assault, and one on suspicion of impaired driving.

Five of the arrests were made on Court Street, Pembroke ? these were said by a Police spokesman to relate to "multiple separate incidents". Of those arrested, 14 were males and two were females.
