Baby injured in fall from moving truck
A two-month-old baby had to be hospitalised on Thursday after she fell from a truck.
The baby girl was in her mother?s arms when they fell off the truck as it was turning onto St. Mary?s Road. The single vehicle accident happened at 5.55 p.m.
The 22-year-old mother fractured her pelvis in the fall, and according to Police, the child sustained facial injuries.
The hospital was not able to confirm this information or provide an update on the baby?s condition yesterday when contacted by The Royal Gazette because the family had not given permission for information to be released.
In order to release information to the media about a minor, the hospital must have parental consent.
Road Safety Officer Roxanne Christopher told ZBM News that the accident highlighted the importance of seatbelts.
?Please make sure you?re wearing the proper safety belts when travelling,? she said. ?Our hearts go out to the family and we hope for a swift recovery for the mother and child.
?It is important for employers to know that it is against the law not to have a seatbelt on in any commercial vehicle.?
