Foggo faces sentence on Monday

Disgraced Cup Match hero and St. George?s cricket star Gregg Foggo will be sentenced on Monday for importing more than $30,000 worth of cannabis into Bermuda.

Foggo, 34, was meant to learn his fate at Magistrates? Court yesterday. However, his case was adjourned after both the prosecution and defence asked for additional time because reports had only recently been completed.

Victoria Pearman told the court that her client wished for at least two witnesses to give evidence when he was sentenced, and they had not been asked to attend the court yesterday. The cricket star, of Old Maid?s Lane, St George?s was stripped of his captaincy as a result of the offence, to which he pleaded guilty at Magistrates? Court earlier this year.

The court has previously been told how Foggo was arrested on the night of May 26 at Bermuda International Airport having returned from Philadelphia on US Airways Flight 386, shortly after 10 p.m. He was discovered to have two packages together containing just over 640 grams of cannabis with an approximate street value of $32,150. Foggo has been warned that he faces up to five years in jail.
