US attack to dominate Overseas Territory talks
The British Overseas Territories may formally declare their support for the US declared war against terrorism at a meeting with the Foreign and Commonwealth Office next week and discuss their responses to the impact of last week's attacks on the US.
The third annual Overseas Territories Consultative Council which brings together the Overseas Territories for talks with the British Government takes place Monday through Wednesday in London.
Premier Jennifer Smith leaves for the talks this weekend.
"I feel very strongly that it is important to attend the Overseas Territories Consultative Council, as this will be the first opportunity for the Overseas Territories to come together to declare formally their support for the US and UK Government's stance against terrorism," said Premier Jennifer Smith in a written statement to the press.
Agenda topics for the London meet include the selection of Governors, governance issues, international issues and aviation safety and security. The premier will introduce a session on Immigration and Nationality. International human rights, sustainable development and education will also be discussed.
It will be chaired by Baroness Amos who only recently took over as Overseas Territories Minister.
