Services to return to normal today
Buses, ferries and flights are expected to resume today after Hurricane Erin played havoc with travel plans and shipping schedules yesterday.
An early morning flight from Miami arrived yesterday but subsequent flights in and out of Bermuda were cancelled until the evening British Airways flight arrived two hours later than scheduled at 8 p.m.
Passengers said the flight was smooth and the return flight headed back to Britain an hour later.
Airport operations duty officer Bill Nearon said Air Canada will be putting on a larger aircraft today from Toronto to cope with stranded customers while Continental will use two aircraft rather than one as it shuttles between Bermuda and Newark.
Regularly scheduled cruise ships Zenith and Horizon are due in this afternoon although the ships were taking southerly routes around the storm and Horizon will head for Hamilton rather than St. George's.
The British-registered cruise ship Caronia cancelled plans to dock at the island on Sunday for a planned three-day stay and the Oleander delayed its arrival until today.
