Bus driver earns praise for quick attention to sick passenger
A bus driver has been praised for his quick action to help a poorly young woman who was taken ill on a bus leaving Hamilton on Tuesday evening.
Passenger delMonte Davis described what happened only a few minutes into the journey on the 8C service from Hamilton to Dockyard, which left the central bus terminal at 7.45 p.m.
"A young woman became quite lethargic and was leaning over and became semi-conscious and ill," said Mr. Davis.
He told the driver and the bus pulled over at the Foot of the Lane.
"The driver got everyone off the bus and called for a replacement bus and an ambulance. Within five or seven minutes there was a replacement bus and ambulance there."
Mr. Davis, circulation manager for The Royal Gazette, said he and other passengers were impressed by the way the drama had been dealt with so quickly by the driver of the 8C bus.
"A woman passenger said this is something that should be reported because very often you only hear about the bad news," he added.
