Bermudians will now be better informed about the foods they eat after Senators passed a law mandating proper labelling and packaging of locally produced foods and cosmetics.

The amendments to the Public Health Act require local manufacturers to include nutrition and shelf life information and contact details on packaging.

Exceptions will apply in cases where the manufacturer sells the product directly and for agricultural products before processing.
