Medeiros beating: Two men arrested

Police have arrested two men in connection with the vicious beating of Rui Medeiros outside Docksiders pub earlier this month.

A brief Police statement released last night said two 21-year-old Hamilton parish men had been arrested and subsequently bailed.

Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses to the assault on 31-year-old Medeiros, also from Hamilton parish, who needed reconstructive facial surgery after the attack in Front Street at around 6 p.m. on Wednesday, July 5, 2006 following the World Cup semi-final game France v Portugal.

Police said initial inquiries revealed there were several witnesses to the assault.

Witnesses should contact Detective Constable Anthony Bartley or Detective Constable Jason Ming on 299 4534 or the confidential Crimestoppers Hotline on 1 800 623 8477.
