Two injured in weekend violence

Police are appealing for witnesses after a violent weekend on the streets of Bermuda.One man was stabbed in the abdomen during what was thought to be a domestic dispute, and another received lacerations to his face and blows to the head in a street fight outside the Spinning Wheel nightclub on Saturday morning.

One man was stabbed in the abdomen during what was thought to be a domestic dispute, and another received lacerations to his face and blows to the head in a street fight outside the Spinning Wheel nightclub on Saturday morning.

Police were called to Cedar Avenue, just after 6 a.m. on Saturday, near to the Leopard's Club, following a report of a stabbing.

When they arrived at the scene, they found a 33-year-old Pembroke man being tended to by paramedics.

Police said he was taken to hospital for treatment to a puncture wound to his abdomen, but was not considered to be in life-threatening condition.

Police spokesman Dwayne Caines said it appeared that the stabbing was the result of a domestic dispute. A 23-year-old woman is assisting Police with inquiries to the incident.

Earlier that same morning, Police were called to the Spinning Wheel nightclub in Court Street on a report of an assault.

They were told the fight had started inside the club and spilled out onto the street.

Police aid the facts surrounding the fight were still unclear, but it was believed that a 20-year-old Smith's man was arguing with someone about money.

He was allegedly hit from behind and then set upon by a gang of men, which resulted in him receiving cuts to his face, which required stitches, and blows to the head.

He was also taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment to his injuries, which were not considered life threatening.
