First storm of season approaches

The first tropical depression of the hurricane season is considered a potential threat to Bermuda according to forecasters.
Tropical Depression One formed off the coast of North Carolina and was expected to reach its closest point of approach to Bermuda at 3 p.m. today at 315 nautical miles to the northwest of the Island.
Last night the depression had maximum sustained winds of 30 knots with gusts up to 40 knots.
