PLP's man in Paget East predicts `shock' win over Gibbons
Delaey Robinson is predicting a "shock" for the United Bermuda Party (UBP) in Paget East.
To that UBP leader, Grant Gibbons says, essentially, "fat chance". The pair were interviewed shortly after they had been nominated to stand in the district.
Mr. Robinson who was pulled from the brink of retirement to run as the ruling party's candidate in the district otherwise known as constituency 22, said the Progressive Labour Party had "significant support" there.
"Grant Gibbons is in for a shock. I think they underestimate the PLP's strength in this constituency," he said.
"When you look at the demographics we have significant support."
Asked if he thought the district is a marginal one, he said: "Let the result tell us that. My sense is there is more support than we all thought."
"I glory in his spirit," said Dr. Gibbons of his opponent's optimism. "But that's not what we are hearing out there. We are hearing a lot of people are very disappointed. The PLP has not delivered on its promises and they have had sufficient time to clearly indicate where they are going as a Government."
