Most phone lines restored, BTCsays
After days without full telephone service, 85 percent of the residents and offices in the Point Finger Road area have had their lines restored, BTC spokeswoman Ona Fletcher said last night in a press release.
Yesterday, The Royal Gazette reported that dozens of customers were without service after a telephone cable was burnt last week, as a result of pole fire.
Among those affected was cancer charity PALS. As a result of the office's phone service being out, president Ann Smith-Gordon asked patients who needed assistance to contact the organisation via cellular phone.
As she she confirmed that PALS phone service had been restored, Ms Fletcher said the solution to fixing the problem was not as simple as first thought.
"Upon further investigation by BTC technicians there is more extensive damage to drop wires and wires inside the homes of customers located in the area than was originally thought," she said.
As work is continuing in the area, Ms Fletcher asked for customers to be understanding.
"BTC asks for the patience of its valued customers while they work to restore service to the area."
