Rationing is back in style
Rationing is back - and motorists can benefit.
The Corporation of Hamilton is still selling parking vouchers at the old price of 50 cents which can still be used after new parking voucher fees rise to 75 cents an hour on June 25.
But sales of the old voucher books are limited to two books per customer from City Hall between now and the deadline date.
Corporation of Hamilton Secretary Roger Sherratt said: "This may be reduced to one if we begin to run out ourselves."
He said the Corporation was doing it so anyone who has difficulty buying vouchers on the Island between now and when the new 75 cent vouchers go on sale will still be able to drive into Hamilton during the daytime and buy parking vouchers.
And he said that the pay and display rise will not come into effect until after June 25 as the hike must be approved by Parliament.
